MY STORY

Ciao! My name is Mirko.
Thank you for your interest in the story of my professional and spiritual growth.
Writing succinctly " I was born in Sicily in 1977, where I began my journey as a masseur and holistic operator, which I then expanded and deepened in the United Kingdom, living in the city of Cambridge for 15 years", would not tell you much about the person you might want to contact here for a massage. So you can read below the milestones of my professional, but also human journey divided into 5 small paragraphs:
In ITALY... the journey begins!
My passion for massage began in 1999, when I practised my "DIY" massage skills on my girlfriend, family and friends, always receiving excellent feedback. I then decided to try working as a massage therapist in a wellness centre in Italy for several years, where I had the opportunity to improve my technical skills. I soon realised that offering people a relaxing experience gave me great professional satisfaction. At the same time, I also worked as a freelancer at the homes of some clients in Italy. My clients really appreciated my massages!
In the UK... the journey moves between the cities and countryside of England!
In 2010, I decided to move to the city of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, a city that had charmed me during several trips in previous years.
I attended my first 6-month training course at a college in Cambridge, and in 2011 I obtained the VTCT Level 3 certification in Body Massage. During this course, I acquired much more in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge. I was officially a massage therapist, eager to gain experience in the United Kingdom.
I set up a massage business, providing services both at clients' homes and at a massage room I had created in my own home. I called the business MassageInCambridge.com, which was also the name of the company's website.
So I started working both in the city of Cambridge and around the Cambridgeshire region and its surroundings. In this part of England, I had the opportunity to work as a home-based massage therapist and also attend courses and meetings held by highly experienced professionals in the holistic sector, including daily courses/meetings in the London area. It was an inspiring period of my training journey.
The FHT... and how the journey branches off into fantastic routes!
I soon became a member of the FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists). This means being a highly qualified professional therapist who seeks to continuously update their knowledge and skills by completing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Given the annual “CPD points collection”, I had to attend continuous refresher courses on massage techniques, or explore holistic disciplines that were sometimes unknown to me, or even mini courses that analysed aspects such as nutrition, stress, sleep, physical activity, anatomy and physiology, and much more. These courses and meetings have always given me a great opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss with holistic professionals, some with decades of experience, both teachers and participants who are members of the FHT, coming from different backgrounds and cultures, sometimes even exotic ones, whom I have been fortunate enough to meet along the way. They have played an important role in my training and have also opened my mind to new fields.
Being a member of the FHT is a guarantee for clients not only in terms of training development, but also because all members are required to comply with the FHT's Code of Professional Ethics, which provides members with a common guide to excellence in professional conduct and practice, and to meet and even exceed client expectations.
THE PANDEMIC... An opportunity to explore longevity
The arrival of the pandemic, as well as in Italy, made it impossible to carry out “close contact” services in England. This gave me the opportunity to have a lot of time available to understand how the human body works in different ways. The most popular topic at that time was obviously the transmission of the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our physical and mental health, so I began to study the phenomenon. From that starting point, my attention shifted to exploring holistic subjects that had always fascinated me, or that had intrigued me so much during courses and meetings I had attended over the last decade.
Then, almost by chance, I learned about those areas of the world labelled “Blue Zones”, and I was so impressed and fascinated by them that I wanted to know more and understand the mechanisms and factors that influenced longevity on so many levels. From there, I began full-time research and study, delving deeper and deeper into important aspects of well-being such as nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep quality, the toxic substances we are exposed to, the importance of social interactions and more. After all, well-being and longevity are closely linked.
All this allowed me to better relate our mental and physical wellbeing to our lifestyle and other factors beyond our control.
I realised that I could do much more to improve my health so I changed my diet, the type of regular exercise I did and other elements of my lifestyle. I had never felt better in body and spirit.
As a result, the lifestyle suggestions I always gave to my clients who asked for advice became more effective, and in fact, I received increasingly positive feedback about how some of my advice, combined with massage, had a significant impact and brought about major changes in their lives. I am not a personal trainer, or a dietitian, or a neurophysiologist, or a professional in these fields, but I have often found myself increasingly effective in giving the right advice to my clients.
The RETURN... to my country... to wonderful lands!
Having fallen in love with Sardinia, which had been my holiday destination in recent years, in 2025 I decided to move to the beautiful area of Cagliari and Quartu Sant'Elena with my French girlfriend, with whom I had lived for several years in Cambridge.
My journey continues on this wonderful island and I feel lucky, actually privileged, to be here. I provide massages wherever they are needed, making people feel better or happier... something priceless, which I love... in a part of the world that I love. Yes, it is a privilege!
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, despite moving here, I decided not to close “MassageInCambridge.com” as I didn't want to abandon some of my clients in the Cambridge area with whom we have a special relationship buil over many years, so I could see them regularly to give them massages, continue to follow them along their well-being journey, not to mention the simple pleasure of meeting them. Every month or two, I “go up” for a few days to visit my esteemed clients, but most of my time, at least the 80% of it, I am here in the Cagliari area.
You can find me as MassaggioaCagliari.
Continuing my journey here is fantastic, and I hope I will have the opportunity to help many people feel good in this area of Sardinia too.
Thank you very much for your time!
